Rossetti...the name is synonymous with the nineteenth century highly romantic English school of art and literature known as "The Pre-Raphaelites." Dante
Gabrielle Rossetti, though he wrote poetry as well, was best known for his winsome
yet sensual paintings. Rossetti took his inspirations from classic stories of love,
as well as from the beautiful women in his personal life, who often modeled for him
and his "Brotherhood" of artists. One of these lovely models was Dante's sister,
Christina. Christina Rossetti was more than just another one of the "wowers" who posed for the Pre-Raphaelite artists, though. As a poet, she had an original, and strong female voice. She is still considered one of the greatest poets of the nineteenth century.
You can almost imagine the rich garden design of this tiara in the background of a Rossetti portrait of some sensuous beauty. The florets twine together in a wonderfully organic dance that reflects the
love of nature of Pre-Raphaelite design. Sparkling Swarovski crystals play light across the surface of the design, and natural fresh water pearls seem to glow from within. The truly elegant decoration spans a generous 8 1/4 inches
of the 13 1/2 inch lovingly textured band, and is 1 inch tall at the peak. The silver-tone finish is a beautiful touch with the crystals and real pearls. This beautiful work of art is very flexible as well, and will add a classic touch
to almost any hairstyle, or wedding ensemble, especially off-white and ivory ones.
