Dido was a Phoenician Queen, founder of Carthage, and first-born child of the King of Tyre. Landing on Libyan coasts, at about 814 BC, she chose a place to found a new capital city for her Phoenician followers: Carthage. She peacefully obtained the land by an ingenious agreement with the local lord, today known as the "Theorem of Dido." She is best remembered for her love affair with Aeneas, the son of Aphrodite and the famous Trojan leader, who had been driven by a storm upon her shores.
