History Splendour Tiara

Audrey

No woman could wear a tiara quite like Holly Golightly, the gamin heroine of the 1960's classic, "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Of course, this talent was bestowed on her by the brilliant and beautiful actress that brought her to life: Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn's ethereal doe-eyed look was all the rage of the fifties and early sixties, but it was her innate grace and class that made her a legend. Born the daughter of an English father and Dutch Baroness, she survived the Nazi occupation of The Netherlands. During this difficult time, she focused on studying dance, stopping only when she was too weak and hungry to function. After the war she pursued a career in dance, but it was modeling, and finally acting that brought her international fame. She shined in such films as "Roman Holiday," "Sabrina," and the hugely influential "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and earned many accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Actress, and the SAG Achievement Award. In 1970 she retired for a few years to spend time with her family. Audrey devoted the final years of her exemplary life to work with UNICEF, the international children's organization. Her heartfelt and tireless efforts earned her the 1992 Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Reminiscent of the tiaras worn by Audrey Hepburn, this lovely tiara is a classic. The elegant design is composed of an assortment of gorgeous flowers and leaves that would make any florist jealous. Sweeping throughout this pretty arrangement are dramatic ribbons. Sparkling jewels of genuine Austrian crystal embellish the entire design. The decoration measures 7 inches of the 13-inch band, and comes to a gentle peak at 1 1/2 inches. The antique silver-tone gives this piece an heirloom feel, as if it were passed down through Audrey's aristocratic family. It also makes it a great choice to use with any color of gown. Unsure about a hairstyle to wear with this lovely tiara? Check out some of Audrey's do's by clicking HERE. Her classic style and flair inspired many upswept dos, and some longer styles as well. The pin loops at each end of the band will make it easier to secure too! This tiara is also available in a lovely antique gold-tone as No. 213B.
