Gold Floral Tiara

The Water Nymph's Treasure

Dragons weren't the only creatures of legend who guarded hoards of treasure. Water nymphs also were said to sometimes protect troves of gold and precious gems that were hidden in the bottom of rivers, streams, and lakes. These fantastic creatures were described as being gentle and innocent, and to appear as beautiful young women. It's hard to imagine them being strong or clever enough to ward off determined thieves. Perhaps they used magic, or their very presence was magical enough to deter theft. They even created jewelry, not by forge and fire, but by using natural elements collected from the waters they lived in and the banks of their rivers and lakes. They then imbued these treasures with magic. These were the ornaments the water nymphs themselves wore, or the gifts they gave to humans. Rumor has it that these jewels made it into many national treasures around the world. From the Tower of London to the Chinese Dynastic treasures, some of the most delicate and beautiful artifacts of the world may have been made by the water nymphs.

The treasures the water nymphs created could always be distinguished by their trueness to nature. This beautiful tiara could very well have been formed by the water nymph's gentle magic. The distinctive, life-like flowers could be lilies pulled from the surface of a lake; their soft enameled surface's the sunlight captured. Backwaters from the ocean might have washed in the luminous (faux) ivory blushed pearls. The maidens could have picked the fern curlicues from the banks of any stream running through a forest. The tiny, diamond-like stones were picked from the river beds, and the larger topaz colored stones could very well be amber resting for thousands of years on the bottom of the ocean. (Both lovely stones are actually genuine Austrian crystal.) The water nymphs would have lovingly hand-wired these precious elements together, and finally, enchanted them with a magical, golden gilding to create this very romantic tiara.

With such a treasure to complete her ensemble, any bride could feel blessed. The graceful 1 1/2 inch peak makes this beauty a perfect height for making a statement, without overwhelming the rest of your ensemble, and the design is a generous 8 inches of the 13 1/2 inch band. The water nymphs will tell you that this look is hot! It goes beautifully with both contemporary gowns, and romantic traditionals. It is especially spectacular with ivory ensembles, but would also look beautiful with other gowns that were decorated with gold thread embroidery. Jewelry set No. 368B and veil not included.
